History

Galaxie Business Equipment has a long history of providing outstanding service and support for business machines – even as these machines have changed quite drastically through-out the years.

The business was started in 1972 by James and Dolores French in Oxford, Kansas. They provided service and support for typewriters and other business machines of the day. Due to the demand for the efficient and reliable services provided by the French's, the business continued to expand both in product offerings and staff required to service the growth. In 1981 the decision was made to move the business to Winfield, Kansas – the same location where we are today.

Also in 1981, James and Dolores' son, Nathan, began working full time for the family business. Sixteen years later the French's sold the business to Nathan. He continues to serve as President of the company, his wife Trudy as secretary and his brother-in-law, Milton Konstantinidis, as Vice-President. All together, nine members of the French family work together at Galaxie in addition to 11 other employees.

Galaxie became an Authorized Sharp Electronics dealer in 1984, providing Sharp copiers, calculators, and typewriters to at least 10 counties in the area. Additional brands of business machines, office furniture and supplies were added in later years. In 1993 an IT services group was established to provide document imaging, computer and networking solutions to our customers.

In 2010, Galaxie Business Equipment was very pleased to receive the Small Business Administration's Jeffery Butland 2010 Family Owned Business of the Year Award. It was a great privilege for us to receive this notable recognition.

We have a long history of excellent customer service and qualified equipment technical support even as times and technology change. We plan on being your go-to company for copiers, office furniture, computers, office supplies, document imaging software and much, much more for the next 40 years!
